Itch.io domain disabled by registrar (back already)

I hate this world.

(The site is working now btw.)

Saw that! You’d think a company that does nothing other than make grotesque and unappealing trash without an iota of artistic value, which serves only to fill up our nation’s landfills faster, would keep their heads down around Christmas time when unsuspecting adults may give in and buy some of their garbage for their kids.

Loved this part too:

The AI-powered brand protection software in question is BrandShield, which, according to its website, “detects and hunts online trademark infringement, counterfeit sales and brand abuse across multiple platforms[.]

Whoever had the description of AI as “a virtual dumbass that’s wrong about everything” nailed it.

Confidently wrong about everything. I sometimes look at the AI results that Google spits out and it sounds so plausible, but is often so wrong.

Also I feel like Funko releasing a plastic toy of “Frustrated Indie Game Developer” right after this incident was a little on the nose.

Fun fact: they might have to change the domain eventually anyways, because the .io TLD belongs to the British Indian Ocean Territory (io = Indian Ocean), i.e. the Chagos Islands, which have now been ceded to Mauritius, so the Indian Ocean territory no longer exists. So in theory, per IANA rules, the TLD is supposed to be phased out eventually.
