I was impressed with @Zed 's overview of Inform. I use Inform every day at the moment, so making me re-see how fundamentally impressive it is something. I’m talking about the elaboration of the bubbling beaker:

The bubbling beaker is on the workbench.

on indicates the (reversed) support relation and the support relation relates a supporter to various things. So this creates a workbench object whose kind is supporter and a bubbling beaker object whose kind is thing, and sets their printed name properties to “workbench” and “bubbling beaker”, respectively, and adds “workbench”, “bubbling”, and “beaker” to the game’s dictionary as words that could refer to their namesake objects.
