A fun behind-the-scenes moment: The dogs, of course, are a timed sequence. The passage repeats about ten times providing more ominous messages about the dogs getting closer before killing the player. On one test run I activated the dogs and then chose to WAKE UP and switch back to the author. I had forgotten to include code to stop the dog attack in this situation, so the poor author woke up and was immediately mauled to death in the hotel room by phantom dogs that materialized out of the manuscript!
I considered leaving it in as a weird sort of “nightmare sequence” since the author then woke up again immedately after, but decided it would be interpreted as a bug instead of a feature.
