@aschultz, this might interest you.

OK let’s go for it. Could you upload it at Special:Upload, ideally saying it’s in the public domain? Thanks.
Sure, I’ve uploaded it.
Excellent. The Time icon now appears on IFWiki:Literary genres - IFWiki and also on game pages like All Things Devours - IFWiki. I think it fits in nicely.
Three down and one to go! Just Historical now.
Here’s another Historical attempt. I was going for a scroll; in my mind it could work for ancient or medieval times, but might be bad for modern stuff (or might not look like a scroll):

(my son just said it looks like spongebob or a yellow cat, so maybe I’ll try again later or wait for someone else to post something)
Looks like a scroll to me!
Thanks! With a couple of tips from others, I added a little bit more:

(and a little bit more tweaking:)

Thanks. I’ve uploaded the third version to the wiki.
Strangely, when doing so I noticed an existing icon which had already been uploaded: File:Historical genre icon.jpg - IFWiki
What confused me initially was tomorrow’s date on it. I thought maybe it was a time zone thing. Then I realised it had been uploaded 18 years ago tomorrow!
The links from that file page show that it had been uploaded with the original proposal for the historical genre. The genre was created but rarely used (it was not added to the genre overview page) but the icon was never used. One comment concluded: “For most of these, the ‘king’ icon isn’t the best of fits.”
So let’s use your new icon! It’ll appear on any game pages in the historical genre, e.g. Sunday Afternoon - IFWiki.
Thank you all for your help! We now have these new icons:
Ghost (drawn by @mathbrush):

Historical (also drawn by @mathbrush):

Time (drawn by @AwesomeAdam12345):

Wordplay (drawn by @EJoyce):

We don’t have descriptions of these genres at https://www.ifwiki.org/IFWiki:Literary_genres yet, but I’ll mark this topic as solved ![]()
