IFComp 2024 - Streaming Award Ceremony on Oct 19!

Congrats folks! Really good comp this year.

On accessibility grounds I found the 21-67 results went by with a really small font and too quickly for me to read easily. I managed to spot mine, but missed the placings of lots more! Looking forward to the full results online soon.

P.S. I will be giving this feedback in the post-comp survey

Ooh, yeah, I was too excited to really follow those, and would have liked to see them a bit longer!

Congratulations, everyone. This was a joy! The standard was really really high this year, I thought, though itā€™s my first time, so maybe itā€™s always like this!

Congratulations everyone ā€” especially to my two favourite games this year, The Bat and Miss Goslingā€™s Last Case, which took 1st and 6th place, respectively.

Huge thanks to the organisers for a fantastic experience and slick awards stream!

And congratulations to my fellow authors. Some of my favourite games placed quite low - I think it was just a really strong competition this year!

Fair results overall. Congratulations to the winners and letā€™s try to keep the standard this high again.

Thanks - and congrats to all, that was a really fun (and well organised) event. Also, Iā€™m still in shock.

You mean you agree with the results? Or that no one cheated? I have no reason to think anyone cheated (or would even be motivated to cheat), but I definitely have my own opinions on what the results should have been. Thanks to everyone who made a game, since they are what the whole thing is about. Especially the people who didnā€™t win.

I mean that I agree with the results, more or less. Out of the ones I judged, I rated Wasacona and Why Pout? higher than they placed, and LLLLL considerably lower, but those are the only significant deviations from my sample.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by cheating? Creating lots of accounts and self-voting, or anything more sophisticated? I have no way to know about either the amount or the methods.

I donā€™t mean anything by it other than that it would be unfair. In the absence of cheating the competition is almost by definition fair - it is just an algorithm on the votes of something like 100 people.

Wow. I knew this outcome was possible, but I didnā€™t think it would actually happen. It doesnā€™t feel real!

Thanks so much to everyone who played and voted, and to all the other authors for making such inspirational art! So many great games this year. It has been an honor. And thanks again to my Patreon supporters. I seriously donā€™t think I wouldā€™ve finished The Bat without them. They helped me with the game during a very rough patch in my life.

There was a long time where you were more or less the most decorated/awarded author who had never won IFcomp or the xyzzy awards. I guess thatā€™s over now. Congrats on a long-deserved win!
