[I7] Resetting a table to its original state

A technique I use a fair bit is to use a table to make a sequence of messages appear during a scene. Below is an example from To Hell in a Hamper:

Summary
Every turn during Fire Hazard:
	repeat through Table of Hazard Events:
		if the event entry is "skip":
			blank out the whole row;
			rule succeeds;
		otherwise:
			say "[event entry][paragraph break]";
			blank out the whole row;
			rule succeeds.

Table of Hazard Events
event
"Red hot embers fly from the smudge stick..."
"skip"
"Red hot embers fly from the smudge stick, some of them dangerously close to the hydrogen-filled balloon!"
"skip"
"Red hot embers fly from the smudge stick..."

But what if I want to make the scene a recurring scene? The second time the scene runs, the rows in the table have all been blanked out, so no messages appear. Is there a way to reset the table to its initial state, or is that information gone for good?

It’s gone for good. To reinitialize a table, you have to either create a second table to copy from, or write a routine that clears the table and fills in the initial state.

For this example, you can do something other than blanking out the row. Maybe just keep a counter.

Thanks zarf, I was thinking that I might use a counter if this was the case.
