We know you won’t settle for less than the best
So just pay us a fortune and we’ll do the rest.
Our performance will be, if we may be so bold,
A step up from the lustre of Midas’s gold!

See, pens were mightier than swords
Already when we scratched our words
In clay, and told of Gilgamesh
And Enkidu, and mortal flesh.
The story’s bones will be the same,
But how you tell it – that’s the game.

The seas are dark, the islands few
Don’t skimp on fuel, don’t eat your crew.

As a hint for my first poem: it’s a recent, commercial game by an extremely well-known author of IF.

With strong refusal to leave so soon,
The day has come for you to say goodbye,
Countless memories around are still left strewn,
So you transport up and into the sky.

The right objects need to be used,
However peculiarly out of place,
In a fitting form they’re infused,
As everything is poised with grace.

By listening closely and opening a flower,
Having made it past the stars,
The idea of moving won’t feel quite so dour,
With a special chest of memoirs.

The hunger sparking innovation
the hope to heal and understand
the need to lead, to teach, to learn
these things which make a man

Is that The Edifice?

#12 Sounds a lot like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

I agree. It does sound alike

Crimes retold, from point of view
A boy who could make a pew
A simple noise to contest
Ripped from shelves after they confess
