I just wanted to take a minute and say what a great community this is! I came into this an experienced player (and an inexperienced author). Back in the day I wrote an IF game engine. The game I am working on was a proof of concept game for that game engine. I wanted to implement it using modern tools.
I downloaded Inform 7 and was immediately blown away by how easy AND sophisticated it was as an IF dev environment,
I started working through my implementation and came across various problems that I didn’t understand or in one case saved me from having to implement thirty-six discrete but similar things. For my puzzle this would have been a nightmare; managing all those objects with repeated code!
Every time I came to this group, I was greeted with generous and gracious individuals who patiently helped with my numerous posts. For this I am very grateful. Thank you all, I won’t mention any one person because I forget all who helped me. But I appreciate you all.
Next, I THOUGHT i was done and called for beta testers. Over night I had response from five individuals who graciously invested their time in my game. They provided transcripts and thoughtful and extensive feedback. Again I was completely wowed by the generosity and kindness of these individuals.
At the risk of becoming “gushy”, I just wanted to say thanks. So, thanks!
