Yeah, Inform is sometimes weirdly inconsistent about how things are named. I love that thereās actually been a game made that way though. I was proposing it thinking it would be a really tight constraint.
Are we allowed to use the same story as an entry for ECTOCOMP but in a diff format? I wanted to make the same overall story and submit to ECTOCOMP with a choice-based version first so I donāt violate the āpreviously unpublishedā rule, and then submit to Bare Bones with a parser version.
My reasoning is that I want to see which format itād feel better in.
As long as the entry follows the jam rules, we welcome all
Whether itās submitted in different comps or a similar story to a previous entry in a different format, or a completely new experimental thing, weāre looking forward to reading it
Iām excited about this. The ifSpace platform is a graphics-free IF engine Iāve been developing, so this Jam is a perfect way to introduce it to more people and also to prove that it can hold water (hopefully a lot of water). Letās see
It does, but I left that behind long ago. I just loaded a game in https://iplayif.com/. Thatās about as plain vanilla as you can get. Black text on white background, with grey on black for the status bar. Iāll use that.
One more question. As this is being run on itch.io, can you make a pretty game page, or does that also need to be plain? I donāt mind either way, as I can always make the game page pretty after the jam is over.
Incidentally, I love the jam banner and the rule that says, āGames should not include any generated AI content.ā I must remember to include that rule in the Text Adventure Literacy Jam next year (or at least consider it).
Yes, you can make graphics for the itch game page.
One more question. (Where have I heard that line before?) Iāve just finished a trilogy. It hasnāt been published yet and Iāll be requesting beta testers in the next day or two. I could enter this trilogy in the jam, as up to three entries are permitted. Does it matter that the games were mostly written before the jam was announced? The jam rules donāt say otherwise, so I presume this is okay.
Also, thereās no judging or rating or prizes or anything like that, is there?
I think works written before the jam started are fine if they havenāt been released (or even if they have been released, as long as thereās something new). And thereās no judging or rating or prizes.
lil booping!
Weāre about half-way through the jam
Only just found out about this jam, and Iām now realising Iāve missed half the time available! Will try to scrape something together before the deadline, it sounds like fun!
As long as you have fun, thatās what matters to us
Last day to submit something!
Come check out the 28 entries!!
