Hi everyone. I built this short detective case because I want to understand whether players who enjoy this kind of game find its ending fair and well designed.
Clueframe Case 1, Tomorrow’s Obituary, is a short illustrated browser mystery. You look through four scenes, question a few witnesses, and decide who tried to manufacture a prophecy. What I actually want to learn is whether the interaction is clear and whether the final deduction feels fair — not whether you like the art.
- Playtime: about 5–10 minutes
- Platform: desktop or mobile browser
- No download, no account
- No cash payment. The first five complete, qualifying testers will receive one free month of access to the three deep Season One cases once all three are ready. The reward is the same whether your feedback is positive or negative.
- Play here: Tomorrow's Obituary | Clueframe
How the feedback works — two private messages.
1) Right before you submit your accusation and see the explanation, send me a private message with your call and your reasoning. This part matters most, because I want your thinking before the game confirms or corrects it:
PRE-REVEAL
Suspect:
Evidence 1:
Evidence 2:
If you stop before that point, that’s genuinely useful too — just send this instead:
STOPPED
Last screen/action:
Current suspect: name or none
Current evidence: words or none
2) After you finish, reply in the same private-message thread with:
POST-PLAY
1. Device:
Relevant game played in the last 90 days:
Segment completed in that game:
2. First exposure to this case: yes/no
Saw another person's culprit/evidence before playing: yes/no
Reached the ending: yes/no
Used any help: no / describe briefly
Already submitted on another handle/platform: no / describe briefly
3. PRE-REVEAL sent / STOPPED sent / PRE-REVEAL not sent
4. Anything you were unsure how to do:
FOLLOWUP: yes/no
If you used a hint, a walkthrough, a public reply, or any other help, please just say so in “Used any help.” It doesn’t disqualify your response — it tells me where the case got confusing. If you reached the ending without sending the PRE-REVEAL message, please don’t reconstruct your earlier reasoning; just write PRE-REVEAL not sent.
On the art: the scene illustrations and character portraits were generated with OpenAI Codex’s built-in image_gen tool. Its exact platform-managed image-model identifier isn’t exposed by the tool. I personally selected and reviewed every asset, and I take responsibility for them. The interaction design, case structure, this post, and analysis are also my responsibility. Again — this test is about interaction clarity and whether the deduction is fair, not about rating the artwork.
Case 1 is already public and isn’t entered in IFComp or any other competition. Please keep the culprit and evidence out of public replies so later players aren’t spoiled — send those to me privately.
Thanks for reading. I’ll stop taking new testers once I have five complete, qualifying responses. As a thank-you, those first five testers will receive one free month of access to the three deep Season One cases once all three are ready. If you’re already mid-play when that happens, please still send what you have — I’ll read every reply, though anything after those first five is kept as extra context rather than part of the group I’m studying.
